    Rheological performance of aqueous solution of a cationic surfactant containing hydroxypropyl group

    Rheological performance of aqueous solution of a cationic surfactant (3-tetradecyloxy-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium bromide,R14HTAB) was studied with steady and dynamic shear rheological method.Results showed that structure of the self-asembly of the R14HTAB undergoes three transitions in the shape within the investigated concentration range,from spherical to rodlike micelles,then to viscoelastic wormlike micelles,and finally to hexagonal lytropic liquid crystal.The transition from spherical micelles into rodlike micelles takes place as the concentration of R14HTAB higher than 360 mmol/kg.The overlapped threshold micelle concentration is about 500 mmol/kg.The viscosity at zero shear (η0) and R14HTAB concentration (C) displays exponential relationship,i.e.,η0∝C5.7.The microstructure of the formed micelles was further ascertained by FF-transmission electronic microscopy.The deviations from Cox-Merz rule in the steady and dynamic viscosity experiment is mainly due to formation of hydrogen bond.

    A viscoelastic micelle system (self-thickening system) blended with an amphoteric surfactant,cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB),and an amino-acid based anionic surfactant,sodium lauroyl sarcosinate (LS),was formed by adjusting the mass ratio and pH.The network of wormlike micelles in the blend was confirmed via characterization with Cryo-TEM images.Effect of NaCl dosage on the viscosity of the self-thickening system was identified and the viscosity-temperature characteristics as well as the foaming performance of the viscoelastic system were emphatically investigated.Results showed that when the NaCl content is low (w<0.5%) its effect on viscosity of the system is rather small.Establishment of viscosity of the system is mainly affected by mass ratio and pH of the system.The viscosity decreases at higher temperature (40 ℃) and increases at lower temperature (5 ℃),respectively.The foaming performance becomes worse as pH declines.Adopting the methods of adjusting the mass ratio and the pH,a series of self-thickening systems formed by blending of anionic amino-acid based anionic surfactant and amphoteric surfactant can be obtained.

    Synthesis of monoglycerides with Cinnamomum burmannii seed oil and its application in moisturizing cream were studied.The results showed that the optimal transesterification conditions of synthesis of monoglycerides with Cinnamomum burmannii seed oil were as follows:the glycerol to oil molar ratio of 3∶1;NaOH catalyst dosage of 0.8% of the oil mass;reaction temperature of 180 ℃ for 3 h;and the content reaches 62.6%.The crude product was purified by molecular distillation and the purity of the final product achieves 92.8%.Physicochemical properties of moisturizing cream prepared by using the final product can meet the requirements in China National Standard and the cosmetic product displays good performance in application.

    Compatibility of a lime soap dispersing agent,N-dodecyl-N,N-dimethyl-N-(p-sulfobenzyl) betaine (DSBB) with transparent soap base was investigated,and the performances of resistance to hard water,calcium tolerance,detergency,foaming power,wetting power and critical solution temperature were measured.Experimental results showed that lime soap dispersing power of DSBB was as high as 3.When the transparent soap was blended with 10% (mass fraction) of DSBB,the resistance to hard water,the detergency and the wetting power of the mixture were remarkably improved.DSBB was found beneficial to improve the solubility of the soap in cold water and without reducing the foaming power significantly.

    Antibacterial,mould proof and softening performance of the quaternary ammonium salt myristyl-methyldihydroxyethylammonium bromide on cotton fabrics and non-woven cloth was studied. Via antibacterial and mould proof tests on cotton fabrics and non-woven cloth treated with the quaternary ammonium salt,results showed that,when the mass concentration of the quaternary ammonium salt achieves 1 000 mg/L,its effect is remarkable with respect to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus,while it displays certain inhibition effect on Aspergillus niger,rope Penicillium and spherical shell mold. Via cotton fabric softening tests with the quaternary ammonium salt of separate mass fractions,results showed that when the mass fraction achieves 0.25%,best softening effect can be obtained.

    A kind of stable O/W emulsion was prepared in the laboratory.Seepage experiments of this emulsion in homogeneous cylindrical core with the length of 30 cm were carried out to simulate the seepage process of emulsion in reservoir beds with separate permeability.The experimental results showed that the emulsion with particles of 3.673 μm average diameter can be injected into deep of the core.In the cores with permeability from 0.6 to 1 μm2,the emulsion has good property both in profile control and injection.When the ratio of average diameter of emulsion and average diameter of core is less than 0.33,the property of injection is well.When the ratio of average diameter of emulsion and average diameter of core is larger than 0.33,as the ratio increases,the property of injection decreases quickly.

    Controllable preparation and properties of Fe3O4-ZnO composites

    Fe3O4-ZnO composites were prepared with hydrothermal co-precipitation method.Microstructure of the composites was characterized by SEM and XRD.Photo-catalytic and magnetic performance were investigated.Experimental results showed that the morphology of the prepared Fe3O4-ZnO composites could be controlled and adjusted by changing the alkali source.Photo-catalysis test results indicated that the Fe3O4-ZnO composite prepared with NH3·H2O as alkali source displays excellent photo-catalytic activity,and the degradability of dye (methylene blue) using the composite achieves 97.7% within 100 min while after reuse of 3 times the degradability still achieves 96.5%.Notably,it displays good magnetic performance (saturated magnetization intensity achieves 25.881 A·m2/kg).Such materials can be effectively recovered and reclaimed.

    Preparation of porous microspheres encapsulated with rose fragrance and its slow-release performance

    Porous microspheres encapsulated with rose fragrance were prepared by adsorption of the fragrance on porous polystyrene-divinylbenzene (PSt-DVB) microspheres,which were obtained by two-step swell polymerization with the uniform polystyrene microspheres as seed particles via dispersion polymerization.The surface features of seed particles and porous microspheres were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM);the particle size,the specific surface area and pore structure were analyzed and characterized by particle size analyzer and Brunauer,Emmett and Teller (BET) method;controlled-release performance was tested by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).The results showed that the particle size of the seed particles increases with the increasing of volume fraction of the ethanol.As dosage of the swelling agent,p-dibutyl phthalate (DBP) increases,particle size of the porous microspheres increases and its distribution becomes wider.As the dosage of cross-linking monomer DVB increases,average particle size of the porous microspheres reduces and its distribution becomes narrower.The best single size dispersion was obtained as the porous microspheres were generated with toluene.The porous PSt-DVB microspheres with the diameter of 4 μm were obtained when the ratio of V(DBP)∶m(seed particles) and V(DVB)∶V(St) is 3∶1 and 4∶0,respectively.As a result,the release rate of the fragrance can be slow down and initial decomposition temperature can be raised;and then the controlled release of the fragrance can be realized.

    Application of blend of p-anisic acid and sorbitan caprylate in hair shampoo

    Bacterial inhibitory performance of blends of p-anisic acid and sorbitan caprylate in hair shampoo was studied by preservation test method. Effect of dosage of the antibacterial agents,as well as the application conditions (pH and temperature of the system) on inhibition result was examined. Results showed that as the mass fraction of the p-anisic acid achieves 0.4% and the sorbitan caprylate achieves 1.0%,as well as the pH keeps no more than 6.0,the system displays good antibacterial performance.

    Siwu-tang was prepared by water extraction of four kinds of Chinese traditional herb medicine.DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl) method was adopted to measure the antioxidant activity of the Siwu-tang and ultraviolet spectrophotometry was adopted to measure the tyrosinase inhibitory activity.Then the whitening efficacy of Siwu-tang was comprehensively evaluated.Meanwhile,taking DPPH free radical scavenging ratio and tyrosinase inhibitory ratio as assessment indices,as well as adopting uniform design method,the relationship between dosage ratio of the Siwu-tang and the whitening efficacy was investigated.Results showed that,the Siwu-tang displays rather high DPPH free radical scavenging capacity.With respect to activity of tyrosinase,it displays inhibitory action at high mass concentration,while at lower mass concentration it displays activation effect.In the uniform designed experiment,the results showed that when the mass ratio in the composition of the Siwu-tang Radix Angelica sinensis,Rhizoma Chuanxiong,Radix Paeoniae Alba and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata is 85∶66∶10∶199,the inhibitory ratio of tyrosinase activity achieves 24.3%,and the scavenging ratio of DPPH free radicals achieves 95.2%.

    Determination of 32 kinds of banned and/or restricted dyestuff in hair dyes by high performance liquid chromatography

    A reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was established for the determination of 32 kinds of banned and/or restricted dyestuff in hair dyes.The 32 kinds of dyestuff were divided into three groups according to the value of pKa of each component.ZORBAX Extend C18 (4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) column and ZORBAX Bonus-RP C18 (4.6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) column were used.Methanol,acetonitrile and buffer salts with pH of 7.0,8.0 and 9.0 respectively were used as the mobile phase.The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min and the detection wavelengths were 280,230 and 250 nm respectively.All the RSD values are lower than 5%.The spiked recovery achieves 70% to 130%.

    Simultaneous determination of α-,β-arbutin in cosmetics by normal phase high performance liquid chromatography

    An analysis method was established for determination of α-,β-arbutin in cosmetics by normal phase high performance liquid chromatography. The separation was performed on an S-Chiral A column (250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm) with n-hexane-ethanol (volume ratio 70∶30) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The detection wavelength was 226 nm. Operating temperature was 30 ℃. The limit of detection of α-,β-arbutin are 1.5 and 3.6 ng respectively,and the limit of quantification are 1.6 and 6.3 ng respectively. A good linear relationship is obtained between the peak area and the mass concentration of α-,β-arbutin in the range of 10~500 mg/L and the correlation coefficient are 1.000 0 and 0.999 0 respectively. The recoveries of α-,β-arbutin at different spiked level are 99.61%~103.36% with the relative standard deviations (RSD) no more than 0.80%.
