Determination of 12 kinds of phthalates in cosmetics by HPLC

Abstract: The chromatographic separation of 12 kinds of phthalates in cosmetics was achieved on an Agilent Poroshell 120 EC-C18(100 mm×4.6 mm,2.7 μm) filled with particles of sub-3 μm,with the mobile phase of methanol-acetonitrile-water by gradient elution,at the detection wavelength of 230 nm.The results indicate that 12 components are completely separated in 10 min,and the linear relationship is good in the range of 5.0-100 mg/L.The detection limits range from 1.0 mg/kg to 40.0 mg/kg,and the lower limits of quantitation range from 3.5 mg/kg to 150.0 mg/kg.The average recoveries are in the range of 89.4%-107.1%,and RSDs are in the range of 0.3%-1.5%.
