Abstract: Disodium Guerbet hexadecyl sulfosuccinate (HDSS) was synthesized through esterification of C₁₆ Guerbet alcohol (2-hexyl-1-decanol) with maleic anhydride and sulfonation of the mono ester with Na₂SO₃.Structure of the HDSS was characterized by FTIR and ¹HNMR,and its performance was investigated.The γ_cmc of the HDSS is 27.7 mN/m,the wetting time of canvas in the HDSS aqueous solution (3.0 g/L) is 10 s,and the foam volume of HDSS (2.0 g/L) is 445 mL at 0.5 min and 235 mL at 30 min.The results indicated that the HDSS has good surface activity,wetting power and foaming performance.
