Abstract: A method for the simultaneous determination of nitrate salts and nitrite salts in amine oxides by ion chromatography was established.The amine oxide sample was pre-treated with IC-C₁₈ reverse phase adsorption column and 0.45 μm micro-pore filter membrane,and then loaded into a high-performance anion exchange column with a mixed solution composed of 4.0 mmol/L Na₂CO₃ and 1.2 mmol/L NaHCO₃ as eluant and detected with a suppressed conductivity detector.Results showed that good linear relationship displays within the range of nitrate and nitrite mass concentration between 0.1-10.0 mg/L with correlation coefficients (R²) more than 0.999 9.The detection limits of nitrate and nitrite were identified as 0.035 and 0.028 mg/L respectively.The relative standard deviations (RSD,n=7) lie 0.46%-2.24%.The spiked recoveries lie 94.3%-102.5%.This method has the features of simple,rapid,accurate and efficient.It is a high sensitive,safe and practical method,can meet the requirements of technical analysis.
